A main "Criteria of Consciousness" for the human experience, Gayathri, is never having all you want. For as one dream comes true, another swiftly takes its place. Not having all you want is one of life's constants.

And learning to be happy while not yet having all you want (which, as you can see, is constant), is the first "Criteria of Joy." Nail it, and for
the rest of your life people will be asking what it is about you.

Desire, Gayathri, is a beautiful thing.

    The Universe

Dear Universe --

I get the never having all that I want -- its often too much. But I dont agree that desire is a good thing -- its ok if there is no attachment to the desire or the results of the action. Its sort of like saying, "I really want a red pony," and getting a blue one and being unhappy it wasnt red. Its still a _pony_, you know? I see a lot of people getting caught in the loop of desiring things and losing sight of what is necessary.

I'm good with having goals but I dont want to be devastated if those goals werent met exactly as I had hoped, or even if they arent met at all. Ten or so years ago,  I had this goal that by this time in my life, I'd be married and have children and be making over 100K a year. Instead, I'm completely single, broke, unemployed and happier then I have been in ages.

:) and that's ok -- what's unfolding for me was always a part of my innate desire to be _alive_ and live in the moment.

Thank you, Universe!
Love always,
Gayathri

On Friday, it is Diwali, the festival of lights. Light candles and put them in the window to ask Laxhmi, the Goddess of Luck and Wealth to come bless your house. Clean your house if you have time. Make a lovely dinner with sweets for dessert to help make your new year filled with plenty and sweet with the fruits of your labor.

Play a game of cards or buy a lottery ticket, again, telling the Goddess of Luck and Wealth that she is in your thoughts and that will make her happy.

The story is that on this day Goddess Parvati played dice with her husband Lord Shiva and she decreed that whosoever gambled on Diwali night would prosper throughout the ensuing year. This tradition of playing cards- flash and rummy with stakes continues even to-day.
