*sad* not so great music lesson

no, i dont hate bach, I actually like this piece I'm learning, and I'm enjoyingl earning how to pick up a piece and take it apart. But for some reason, my ears were not working last night, and I COULD NOT GET things in tune.
OMG, nothing worse in the world then a violin not in tune. Where the fuck is the c#? that was the worst. :( poor C#, kept sound like a D... which then threw off the rest of the bit...)

that was my lesson last night.
I'll be practicing A major scales tonite. BAH! BAH, I say! Partly its finding things in positions I'm not used to. Teacher sez, "C#, 1st finger, G string," and I think, 3rd position, but 1st finger sharp, but for some reason, I can't hear the note. which means I can't really find it on the string. Which just makes it all messy.
