Well, I was supposed to meet up with a bunch of friends and go for a moonlit hike down to the beach..
First, I dont get out of work until 6 pm. I had meant to leave around 4 30 ish, to run some errands and then get home before 6... I wanted to leave early for the hike so that we'd get there, and have time to eat dinner too...
So when I got home, the lights were out. Not just in my apartment. Not just on my street, but all the way 'round the hollywood bowl. Getting home was a nightmare of angry people trying to run over everyone from the cops trying to direct traffic, the pedestrians trying to get to the bowl, and each other to get thru an intersection.
I almost got creamed at the corner of Outpost and Franklin as the cops apparently had gotten BORED and werent even directing traffic.
Then, I get home about 45 minutes later then I'd expected, am unable to download the directions to where I"m going, find it on a paper map, continue to race around like a chicken with no head, having called P and begged him to drive, and am waiting downstairs at 7 pm. PLENTY of time to get to Newbury park, right?
Wrong. It took us 25 minutes to GET OUT OF HOLLYWOOD!!! P needed gas, and then traffic made it hard to make the correct turns and it just took FOREVER...
At 8 pm, we'd _just_ gotten to the muholland highway exit off of the 101,
still at least 20 min away if I knew where I was going...
I was so frustrated I wanted to bite off heads. It had been a long day at work and I was looking foward to the hike, but because we'd missed the group, that meant we had no way of 'getting back' once we hit the water -- it was an 8 mile hike from the mountains to the water, and you drive back...
Big Sycamore CanyonWe paused for a powerbar break and then P took the long way home to calm me down. :(
(this was the nice part, we drove thru the 23 down to the water, almost hit a coyote, saw some deer and rabbits... the water was NICE, the moon would break thru clouds to light it up and being the passenger made it nice to be able to see everything...)
At 11 30 pm, the power was still out, so I went home with P, and didnt sleep well as he doesnt have AC either. Apparently the power came back on this morning at 5 am, having been out since 2 30 pm yesterday. *grouchy girl*
