Big huge monster thanks to the gang at PP: crayonbeam, the Bell, ratwerks, basmati for letting me come in and mess up the kitchen; as well as agentkillerbuffy, byronium, jong, skud, and voyeurprincess for joining us!

[livejournal.com profile] basmati  bossed me around her kitchen, and made dal, rice, cauliflower curry (with purple cauliflower!), green beans with mustard seeds, spinach and chard stirfry, rajma... and a ton of dessert. Am I missing something? oh, pudla! that disappeared quick.

People came, we ate, drank indian beer and G&T's, and in true Desi fashion, I was taught to play texas hold 'em. Being the beginner, I won.

Thanks to everyone who helped clean up, as well! dang.

Now I want to spend some time and make those desserts by hand - we had carrot halwa, and I can't remember the names of the ricotta/ paneer cheese thing, but its yum and we need to make it, and laddoos! Man, Amma would be mad to know I bought that stuff, 'cause its easy to make, just TIME consuming. I didnt have my act together this weekend to do it.

Gotta look 'em up in the indian cookbook for names and recipes. Gagar or carrot halwa is dead easy, as are the laddoos.

Candles lit, jewelry bought and worn, here's to hoping that the goddess of luck and wealth continues to come into our homes.

Glad your Diwali fest was festive, mine was very subdued. Don't worry about the Bhai Dooj thing, it's a brother sister ceremony but out of curiousity, do you happen to have a simple recipe for rose lassi or am I going to be better off buying it? I need it for this weekend and I was hoping it'd be a cheaper build to make from scratch.

Never you mind the recipe request, I found one online that actually allows you to change the amount of servings so that you know how much to use to make however many cups of the lassi! And it removes the possibility of too much salt in the recipe by using none! Yay!
