In 1718, a top Lutheran official in Eisenach, Germany sent a letter to the town administrators of nearby Ostheim-vor-der-Rhoen, mandating them to choose a new priest for the local congregation. Due to human error, the mail didn't arrive until 2004, too late to fulfill its function. I regard this as an apt metaphor for a scenario that will soon unfold in your life, Gemini. You too will finally receive a long-delayed delivery. Unlike the German message that was 286 years tardy, however, yours won't be completely useless. On the contrary, it might be curiously fresh. In the big picture, its seemingly belated arrival may even be perfect timing.

So I got a piece of physical mail -- a thank you card from my god-child, Maeve (the cutest baby in the WORLD).

She told me how she liked her little horsey rattle that I got her from the Autry Museum -- she's already pulled the mane off of it. How she thought my arms would be tired from flying from California, but it seems her mother explained about these buses that fly thru the air, and finally, the part that made me all squishy -- she told me her god parents were picked not just because we were friends and beloved of her parents, but that it was important in some way, that we would extend her family, and give her some different views on the different spiritual paths we have all wandered. She hopes some day, when she's a little older, that we could talk some more about my path.

Wow. I dunno about y'all, but that's a big responsibility for me! I was really touched, and somehow felt more grownup then I've ever felt before.

Anyway, I think this weekend needs some time spent on shopping for the little munchkin.
