Powerful and Transformative Experiences

I think in my circle of friends, we've all had them -- those moments in our lives when Something Happens and things change forever.
Sometimes we seek them, and sometimes they find us in the things we do to feel and be alive and present and in the moment. Today is the day that two years ago, the Space Shuttle Columbia didnt make it home and it changed how things are done where I work -- I missed a lot of it as I wasnt working here for 6 months before the accident and 4 months after, but coming back, I see how Things Changed.
On more personal levels, there are the Bad Things, the hitting rock bottom things, those moments laying on the floor a pile of weeping mess, or standing on a mountainside looking at a dead girl's body, or having to say good bye to a friend dying of cancer, or losing someone to a motorcycle accident brought on by their inability to manage their diabetes.
And for some people-- its only moments like these that bring change.
For those that seek it, using everything from eastern mysticism, to radical SM / modern primitive practices, I sometimes wonder about the intent -- and then I wonder if it really matters.
I suspect many people might come to the same realizations if they spent a little more time alone in their own heads and hearts and spirits and less time frantically seeking another's acceptance, guidance or that magic pill.
Yesterday, for the first time in two months, I could breathe out of both of my nostrils. My sinus' have been stuffed up for a Long Time. The simple act of being able to breathe in thru my nose and out of my mouth which allowed me to do some yoga breathing and clear my lungs for the first time in forever.
What other positive moments on your lives created change? they don't have to be big ones, even little changes, little joys, little transformations are good.
