Fun violin lesson
Apr. 27th, 2007 10:50 amI told the teacher I didnt want to look at the Bach this week, so we played a bunch of duets, focusing on my sight reading. That was awesome fun -- his viola is really beautiful sounding carbon fiber instrument -- I'm not sure if its from the MA guys Luis and Clark but I love listening to it. (I'm keeping an eye out for a viola, but I suspect I'll get an electric viola just to be able to mimic guitar tunes.)
but for fun, he'd just gotten two new carbon fiber bows from a company called Incredibow
and I ended up playing with one of them -- its a little different, but since the bow was so much lighter, I could feel how I engaged my arm in applying pressure rather then letting the bow do much of the work. (I definately need a new bow, my older wooden one has seen better days, and the fiberglass one is CRAP.)
He said I could borrow the Incredibow when my wood violin was returned, to see how it felt. :)
All in all, I had a great lesson -- my sight reading is coming along and my goal this weekend is to pick up a good metronome.
