weekend notes

It was a pretty busy weekend. Friday P came over and we got him ready for his weekend of clinicals, so that meant a lot of ironing, and packing meals so he wouldnt have to eat crappy cafeteria foods. TJ's was OUT OF JUICE boxes, so that seriously made me unhappy (because it amuses me to think of my 6'5 guy in his nursing whites drinking out of a juice box.)

plus his cohort teases him if he doesnt have it. :) Apparently, they are jealous of my making him lunch.

Get up way too early to get him on the road. I get up, and get ready and head to Jiffy Lube, in at 7, out by 730. Home to nap 'til 11 when I grab both cats, hustle them into the car (yowling up a storm) and off to the Vet. Mr Robinsky likes my vet, and was very well behaved. Ms Cleo does NOT like having blood drawn, and was quite put out by the whole affair.

Home for another nap and reading of books. I read "Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman -- QUITE good! I'm reading his short stories, "Smoke and Mirrors" now. Amazing. I re-read "The Blue Sword" by Robin McKinley, and started "The Hero and the Crown" (also by McKinley)

Napped and almost overslept for Dinner and Party -- dinner was amazing shrimp tostadas, and also some bites of mexican shrimp cocktail. SO GOOD! Conversations with O and B rock as always. :)

Got home from party at 2 am. Too wired to sleep, read "Hero and the Crown" until I about fell asleep. Ms Cleo slept on my legs or tummy or side as I tossed and turned.

I didnt get outa bed 'til 10 am, but then showered, changed and headed to brunch at A&W seafood in Reseda for brunch with some folks I hadnt seen in ages. Fantastic Dim Sum! :) I had pork bao, and bean paste bao, and sticky rice and LOTS of green tea.

Afternoon meeting with some other women gave me a headache, but I headed to Ikea with a friend to get stuff for my roomie. Picked up roomie at airport at 8 30 pm, and got home late.

Not enough sleep. no picking up wooden violin, Good weekend tho!

If you like Gaiman's short stories, check out the new collection, "Fragile Things."

Of his novels, "Neverwhere" is my favorite. "Stardust" is quite different but also good (and soon to be released as a movie.) }Coraline" is a children's book but well worth reading. I found "American Gods" and "Anansi Boys" to be worth my time but I didn't like them as much as the others.

Hes, Fragile things is AMAZING! One of my favorites ever. The audio version is read by Gaiman himself. *swoons* Highly recommended!!
