I wrote to the president -- saying we, the people, deserve better for our work in keeping our country safe

(dont get me started on how federal marshalls have to dress on airplanes -- may as well give them red shirts!)

but anyway:
==================================
On Sunday, Newsweek magazine revealed that Karl Rove, as you know, the President's closest political advisor -- was responsible for disclosing the identity of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame.
The agent, Valerie Plame, worked on weapons of mass destruction for the agency and by exposing her identity, the leaker could have jeopardized the lives of other covert agents in the field. At best, it was recklessly irresponsible; at worst, it was malicious; and either way, the leaker undermined our national security.
President Bush has pledged to fire anyone who helped leak Plame's name to the press. Now we know that the person responsible was Karl Rove. Please take a moment to sign the petition telling the President to keep his promise now at:

I couldn't sign this one fast enough!

I signed it. Here's the text of my added note:

Dear Mr. President:

I know that Karl Rove has carried a lot of water for you in the past and that you owe him big time -- but honestly, where will you ever draw the line, if not here? Karl Rove is a criminal. As such, he is an embarrassment to any administration, and your continued attachment to and support of him makes your administration look like nothing but a bunch of thugs and cronies. If you continue to hang onto the guy, what else are the American people supposed to conclude?

Your administration has an absolutely disgraceful record of giving paramount importance to the interests of the rich and powerful, while letting the condition of the common person deteriorate. You have shown no concern beyond the merest lip service for the struggles of the American people as we try to find ways to survive with declining jobs and wages, vanishing benefits and mounting health care costs, and skyrocketing energy costs that create a life-threatening challenge for the many Americans who live in states with a harsh winter climate. We've watched you bend and break the US Constitution in support of your personal interests and those of your cronies. Now you want to go back on your word -- AGAIN -- and give a "get out of jail free" card to the criminal Karl Rove. Well, it sure will be interesting to see if you get away with this one -- because if you do, it really is all over, and there is no hope for this country. You make Nixon look like a piker.
