I always thought that Devon cream = clotted cream, or was a type of clotted cream. That's what FoodReference says. Dunno what the addition of sugar and such in this recipe is about, but that makes it something different. Mascarpone is not clotted cream, it's technically a triple-cream cheese. All are heart-hardeningly wonderful. There's nothing quite like a classic cream tea, with scones, jam and Devon cream.
